Be a Volunteer

Make a difference volunteering for KRUWODO in Uganda.

KRUWODO provides short and long-term volunteering opportunities in Uganda for individuals and teams. As a small charity, much of our work has been achieved thanks to the passion and dedication of our amazing volunteers.

By becoming a KRUWODO volunteer you can make a direct impact to a range of KRUWODO projects. In return, KRUWODO is committed to ensuring you have a safe, enjoyable and productive work where your time makes a tangible impact. We’ll support you through the whole process and aim to leave you with a life-changing experience.

Whether you’re looking to volunteer for 1 week or 1 year, we’d love to hear from you. You will likely have some questions so checking out our FAQs below is a good place to start.

We welcome volunteers with backgrounds in many professions, not just medical, photo journalists, facilitators, wash specialists, counselors e.t.c.

We require our volunteers to be over the age of 18 (unless in a group accompanied by an adult), and an application form and informal interview must be completed before agreement to a volunteer placement is made.

Can I choose where I volunteer?

Yes. You can let us know if you have a preference regarding where you’d like to volunteer on the application form. Equally, if you don’t mind where you go then we will suggest the best fit for your availability and skills

Is it safe?

KRUWODO is committed to ensuring you are well looked after and have staff and policies in place to do all we can to ensure your safety.

How do I apply?

If you’d like to volunteer then you can request for a volunteer application form from (

You can then complete the application form which we’ll carefully review. If we feel there may be a good fit we’ll invite you to a Skype/ zoom interview. Following the outcome of this interview we require all applicants to provide two references and have a Health check as part of our safeguarding best practise. Following that, you’ll be ready to go and supported by one of our team through the whole volunteering experience.
